As Denver's former City Attorney, Scott possesses one-of-a-kind insights into the inner-workings of municipal government and the regulatory frameworks that govern businesses and developments. Leveraging his extensive network and reputation for problem solving, Scott advocates on behalf of businesses seeking to engage with and influence policy decisions at the local level.

With over 25 years of professional political experience in Denver, Scott is widely recognized as a political-insider with relationships that stand the test of time. Inside Denver's municipal government he represented the Office of the Mayor, City Council, Auditor, Clerk and Recorder and all City Agencies including Denver International Airport (DEN). He is credited with streamlining Denver's contracting process, the creation of the Taxpayer Protection Unit - the City's first affirmative litigation team, and implementing the nation's first municipal, recreational marijuana regulatory framework.

Active in progressive politics, Scott has twice been recognized by the Colorado Democratic Party for his service - first as a Rising Star and second with the Chair's Award for Service for his leadership on the issues of redistricting and reapportionment. He has also been singled out for his commitment to service as an Unsung Hero by 5280 Magazine, as one of Forty under 40 by the Denver Business Journal, and as the Aspen Institute's Ricardo Salinas Foundation Awardee. Scott has also served on the Transition Teams of President-elect Obama, Governors-elect Bill Ritter and John Hickenlooper, and Mayor-elect John Hickenlooper.

Scott has also been recognized as a leader at the intersection of government law and politics as the National Lawyer of the Year by the Hispanic National Bar Association, Outstanding Lawyer of the Year by the Colorado Hispanic Bar Association, and additional Honorary-Alumni and Alumnus awards from The University of Colorado, School of Law, and the University of San Diego, School of Law, respectively. He is routinely recognized as a Top Attorney in the annual publications 5280 Magazine, Law Week Colorado, and Latino Leaders Magazine.

He is a Board Member of the Downtown Denver Partnership Civic Ventures Board, the Colorado Nonprofit Association, and Gubernatorial appointee to the Baseball Stadium District Board.
